A Feature Documentary — Currently in Production
With a well-deserved sum of 27 Golden Mike Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Award spanning 50 years of excellence, Los Angeles radio news reporter Pete Demetriou is being profiled in a feature film documentary, currently in production, entitled “General Assignment: LA.”
Demetriou’s on-location radio coverage of breaking news stories has frequently positioned him in personally dangerous circumstances — many of which, during the last twelve months, have been captured by producer Roy Bodner’s independent film production team, Freedonia.
“Radio news allows me to provide an instant interpretation of my surroundings, frequently a first rough draft of history as it is being made in Los Angeles — and in only 55 seconds or less.”

Pete Demetriou is one of those voices that Los Angeles has come to rely on when it comes to breaking news for more than 50 years.
A native Angeleno and UCLA graduate, he has been on the streets his entire career, starting in 1978 at KLAC Radio, the ABC and AP Radio Networks, before joining KFWB NEWS 980 in 1985 and has been with KNX 97-1 FM since 2008.
From a stint as a Combat Correspondent in Gulf War I to the 1992 Riots, the 2000 DNC Protests, Occupy LA, the post-2016 Election Unrest, the George Floyd Demonstrations, earthquakes large and small — and more brush fires and police incidents than he can count — he views his work this way:

Roy Bodner
Producer
Roy Bodner has previously produced the feature films “Dance, Baby Dance,” “Diamond Zero,” the documentary “Kindness Is Contagious,” and co-produced “Redemption.”
He is also known for producing several Hollywood awards shows including the DVD Awards for three years, alongside Scott Hettrick.
Bodner was senior vice president of marketing for Peace Arch Entertainment, one of the leading independent production companies in North America. His prior experience includes director of public relations with E! Entertainment Television, and freelance work with the LA Times, Variety, Universal Studios, Panasonic, TVOntario and Disney Consumer Products.
Greg Zekowski
Director
Zekowski is a Los Angeles–based film and television producer, director, Member of the Television Academy and member of the Director’s Guild of America with experience delivering narrative, television, digital, commercial, music-video, and branded projects from development through delivery.
Recent producing credits include “The Anne Frank Gift Shop,” an Oscar-shortlisted live-action short film; Associate Producer on “Soul On Fire,” starring William H. Macy; and Co-Producer of the Emmy-nominated “The Walking Dead: Red Machete.”
Zekowski was the Director of Season 4 of “Ryan’s Mystery Playdate” and previously served as VP of Production at Legion of Creatives and the documentary about Beatles fans, “Graham and Me.”
